Charity fireworks ignite Maidenhead
6:50pm Mon 5th November :: Written by Gareth McPherson
Pyrotechnics illuminated the night sky at Maidenhead United’s football ground on Saturday.

About 1,700 people turned up to witness the firework frenzy with a fiesta of bangs and colours above the stadium.

Classic covers band Riser, who hail from Maidenhead, helped to ignite proceedings with a set list of classic and modern anthems before the big bangs kicked off at the York Road football club.

Fair attractions were also on offer with an inflatable slide, coconut shy and galleon ride proving popular amongst the wealth of children at the event.
The event was held to raise funds for a recently-formed charity that looks to provide respite for local children facing hardship, as well as those further afield.

The Link Foundation (TLF), provides grants to disadvantaged children for everything from toys to basic medicine.

Una Loughrey, chairman at Maidenhead United Football Club and a director at TLF, hoped the event would return after the success of this year's show.

"I am absolutely thrilled with how everything went," she said.
"The display was spectacular with a great finale and the band were excellent too. There was something for everyone there."
