shim Let's get the party started!

Greetings! Where did the year go? I swear the older you get the quicker the time goes by. What a year we had in 2009! Riser gigged solidly all through 2009. We are very grateful to all of you who chose us for your parties, weddings and corporate functions and for your continued support.

It's a great time to be a part of RISER, and the fun just keeps on going. And much as we would love to say it's all down to our own hard work and dedication, we'd like to acknowledge the gratitude we have to all our wonderful fans around the world – as far afield as Atlanta, Scottsdale, and New York City in the good old US of A, and Sydney, Australia, as well as many many people right here in the UK. We’ve built up quite a following over the past few years, and we love each and every one of you. Yes… even you…..

There is, however, one special person who has been acting as our 'unofficial' promoter, manager, marketing guru and gig-finder. And she’s become almost as much a part of the band as the rest of us, as well as being a really good friend.

And so, to self-confessed RISER addict and official Riserette Numero Uno Emma - thanks for all your help, from all of us.....

2010 is already shaping up to be another busy year. We kicked off the gig calendar with a performance at The Stoop - The Harlequins Rugby stadium - on 9th February. The Mighty Quins! After that, our schedule sees us playing at parties, weddings, charity events, and more, stretching on to the end of the year.

As well as all the numerous private functions we play at, we've been asked to play in public a bit more often so that friends, family and prospective clients can come and see us too and we fully intend to do so. So for a start, please all come to Cookham Fayre on Saturday, June 19, where we'll be playing, and where food and beer will be very available! Please come back here regularly for updates.

The biggest thing for us so far this year has been our time away, recording some of our favourite covers and also writing and recording our own songs. The Chapel Sessions turned out to be a fantastic week away. Highlights included late night takeaways delivered to us (well, almost delivered) by Albanians from the back of an old peugeot in the middle of a dark country lane at 11pm! Add plenty of DVDs, a goodly few beers, and hour upon hour of playing sweet music, and you can tell how much we loved being away. Check back soon, when we hope to be releasing some exclusive pictures and audio on this site!

It's already turning into a really exciting year, and we look forward to seeing you in 2010!

RISER has been many years in the making. You need to track back to numerous open-mic evenings in pubs in and around Berks and Bucks to find the first, twinkling spark that grew into RISER

Over the years, the various members of the band met, lost touch, bumped into each other again, jammed, and finally decided that enough was enough - and RISER was born.....

The traditional summer's day weather turned into a torrential downpour just as we were about to play. Gladly, the sun broke through and we were set fair for a storming one-hour set that got every one of the hardy souls still around singing and dancing along.
